Who Can Apply?
Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents: To sponsor your spouse or common-law partner, you must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
Spouse or Common-Law Partner: The person you are sponsoring must be legally married to you or be in a common-law relationship with you. For a common-law partnership, you must have lived together in a conjugal relationship for at least 12 consecutive months.
Eligibility Requirements
For Sponsors:

- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must demonstrate the ability to financially support your spouse or partner without relying on social assistance.
For Applicants:
- Must be legally married to the sponsor or in a common-law relationship.
- Must meet health and security requirements.
- Must not have any criminal convictions that would make them inadmissible to Canada.
The Application Process
- Determine Eligibility: Ensure both the sponsor and the applicant meet the eligibility criteria outlined by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
- Gather Required Documents: Collect necessary documents such as marriage certificates, proof of relationship, and financial information.
- Submit the Application: Complete and submit the sponsorship application, including all required forms and supporting documents, to the appropriate immigration office.
- Application Processing: IRCC will review the application and may request additional information or documents. Processing times vary, but we are here to guide you through every step.
