Who is a Dependent Child?

Eligibility Criteria
To sponsor a dependent child, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
- Demonstrate the ability to support your child financially without relying on social assistance.
- Provide proof of relationship and the child’s dependent status.
Application Process
- Gather Documentation: Collect necessary documents including proof of your relationship, the child’s birth certificate, and any medical records if applicable.
- Submit Application: Complete and submit the sponsorship application package to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
- Application Review: IRCC will review your application to ensure all criteria are met.
- Decision: Once approved, your dependent child will receive their permanent resident status and can join you in Canada.
